A VO Casting That Took Flight: Finding the Voices Behind a Major Airline’s New Campaign
Aura Casting just wrapped a voiceover casting for a major airline, and if you’ve ever flown with a commercial looping on the seatback screen in front of you, there’s a good chance you’ve heard or seen our work.
This was a digital-first campaign, created in collaboration with the incredible team at Mekanism, with usage spanning just about everything: streaming platforms, in-flight screens, digital ads, retail spaces, and public arenas all across North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Oh, and of course, the internet. Anywhere someone’s dreaming about their next vacation, this spot might pop up.
The creative brief was clear, but the casting left room for interpretation in the best way. Mekanism was looking for two voices:
– A friendly, relatable adult woman
– A lively, expressive kid between ages 5 and 7
Our casting team received over 575 submissions for the project. When we say our inbox was bursting, we mean it in the best way. Voiceover submissions are a special kind of thrill—when we hit play on an audition, we’re instantly listening for the spark. The voices either delivers exactly what the script calls for, totally misses the mark, or—our favorite—it brings a new, unexpected energy that elevates the lines in a way we didn’t see coming.
That’s what we’re always chasing.
Casting kids can be tricky, but it’s one of our favorite parts of the job. We’ve cast adults to play kids in past projects, but nothing beats the authenticity of a real kid’s voice. They bring a natural charm and energy that can’t be faked—and in this case, helped the entire campaign come alive. Huge shoutout to the parents and guardians who helped their little ones record self-tapes for auditions. The final session was directed remotely, and we’re sure the young talent handled it like a pro.
As always, we worked fast. The deadline was tight, but we took it in stride, pulling from our trusted network, social media outreach, agency partners, and VO-specific casting platforms to cast both roles quickly. We’re proud to say both leads were booked on time, and the campaign is already live somewhere out in the world.
We don’t always get to cast voiceover, but when we do, it’s super rewarding. There’s something special about finding a voice that carries a message in just the right tone—genuine, human, and never too salesy. That’s where the magic lives.
Got a VO project coming up? Whether it’s a global campaign or something small and scrappy, we’d love to help you find the perfect voice.
