how-to-hire-casting

Production: RW2

At Aura Casting, we thrive when producers call us with challenges that seem impossible on paper. Recently, we were asked to fill 200 (!!) extra roles with very little time to spare.

That kind of request can feel overwhelming, but with our three person casting team working in sync, we turned what looked like a logistical nightmare into an organized, efficient process.

Casting at this scale comes down to three things: communication, quick decision making, and teamwork. Without all three, the request could easily spiral into chaos. With the right structure, however, even the largest casting calls can run smoothly.

Building a Network That Works Fast

The first step was tapping into our network. Aura Casting has built relationships with agencies, actors, and talent across the country, and social media is another key tool we use to reach new faces quickly. For this project, we relied on both. Social media helped us spread the word at lightning speed while agencies delivered talent who were already experienced and reliable.

The challenge with large-scale casting is not just filling seats. Every extra still has to be professional, camera ready, and aligned with the creative vision of the project. Speed matters, but so does accuracy. We stayed selective, knowing that producers want confidence that everyone who shows up will contribute to the quality of the production.

Clear Roles, Constant Contact

Within our team, we divided responsibilities strategically. One person managed talent outreach, another handled availability tracking, and the third built the polished deck of top options for the client. We stayed in constant communication with each other, making decisions quickly and moving forward without hesitation. This structure prevented overlap, reduced delays, and ensured that no detail slipped through the cracks. A big shoutout to the talent agencies that collaborated with us on this project. It could not have been done without you!

For producers, this approach means peace of mind. They do not have to worry about who is keeping track of what. Instead, they see a streamlined process and a finished product: a clean deck of extras ready to go, vetted and confirmed.

Why Producers Call Us for Big Jobs

Producers often ask whether casting hundreds of people on a tight deadline is even possible. The answer is yes, when you have a process that balances speed with precision. Aura Casting has shown time and again that with the right communication and teamwork, even large-scale casting requests can be completed quickly and without stress for the production team.

Our clients know that when the pressure is on, we can step in and make it happen. Whether it is 20 roles or 200, our system is built to handle scale without sacrificing quality.
