Is Aura Casting a Casting “Agency”?

Are casting “directors” also called casting “agents”? Yes and no…

For the sake of Google and SEO, yes, we say we are a casting agency. This helps us show up in search results, and obviously we like that!

But in our modeling, actor, and commercial productions industry, it is known (maybe less known by some) that casting directors are not agents. The business models are inherently different. For any given project, talent agencies take a commission, whereas casting directors agree on a flat fee ahead of the project. Therefore calling someone an agent who is not an agent can be confusing and unclear.

But for some reason, the term “casting agency” has gotten very popular. Irregardless of this misapplied term, for the sake of being discovered by prospective clients, we still play the game, and call ourselves casting agents.
